After confirming the stability of each agency and their specific project, Alternative Gifts International (AGI) sends a check to every agency in June representing 90% of funds received as designated gifts throughout the year. We also make every effort to apply matching gifts received through June to the projects that donors designated. Because there is a wide variance in the popular response to different projects, those with the lowest dollars received through gifts are allowed to benefit from the ‘cooperative’ fund previously called “Where Needed Most.” In recent years, that fund has allowed AGI to pay out between $18,000 and $20,000 to each lesser-funded agency where their designated gifts totaled less than that.

Additionally, AGI has traditionally had the ‘Emergency Disaster Relief’ fund that can be accessed at any time during the year when natural disasters occur and present catastrophic needs. These have been distributed during droughts, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, extreme cold or famine and urgent situations with refugees and displaced persons.
